The Toyota Camry Versus The Honda Accord

A post shared by toyotausa (@toyotausa) on

Drivers and daily commuters seeking the utmost in dependability, affordability and versatility continually turn to models like the legendary Toyota Camry. However, the Honda Accord continually stands as a viable contender for shoppers across Port Chester and Rye considering the Toyota Camry. Mid-sized yet nimble, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord both strive to provide ample interior capacity alongside engaging performance and handling dynamics. However, while the Honda Accord offers impressive accommodations and stands as a formidable contender, it fails to surpass the versatility, style, performance and comfort of the new Toyota Camry.

Power and Performance

Both models offer a variety of powertrains to choose from - including an efficient hybrid option. The Honda Accord comes available with either a 1.5-liter, 2.0-liter, or 2.0-liter hybrid engine. The turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine exerts 192 horsepower and 192 pound-feet of torque, while the 2.0-liter engine provides 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The 2.0-liter hybrid engine, however, exerts only 143 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque.

The Toyota Camry offers three standard 2.5-liter engines and one 2.5-liter hybrid engine to provide drivers with a more exciting driving experience. The base configuration exerts 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, while the next step up includes selectable ECO, Normal and Sport drive modes. A slightly more powerful version comes available after the aforementioned two versions with 206 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. The hybrid 2.5-liter engine exerts 176 horsepower and 163 pound-feet of torque, while the available 3.5-liter V6 engine provides a massive 301 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque for vastly improved performance over that offered by any Honda Accord configuration.

Design and Technology

The Honda Accord offers six trim levels, while the Toyota Camry offers ten unique options to choose from - allowing drivers to more easily select a model that fits their needs and budgets. Both vehicles offer ample degrees of infotainment technology like Apple CarPlay® integration and proprietary safety systems (Toyota Safety Sense™ for the Camry and Honda Sensing® for the Accord), while additional options like a moonroof and leather upholstery come available. While initially closely matched, the craftsmanship, spaciousness and attention to detail featured within the Toyota Camry ultimately steps beyond the Honda Accord with ease.
